Olympic Torch Relay Portsmouth

On Sunday 15th July 2012 the Olympic Torch came to Portsmouth as part of its UK tour before arriving in London for the 2012 Olympic Games. While in Portsmouth on the 15th it visited the "Live Site" in Guildhall Square where there was entertainment provided by singers and dancers before two of the Olympic Torch Bearers performed the Olympic Kiss on the Guildhall steps, as pictured above. The flame then carried on to Southsea Common where there was a large evening concert which featured "The Rizzle Kicks" among many other acts. When the last torch bearer of the day arrived on stage they lit a cauldron with the Olympic Flame. The concert attracted in excess of 60,00 people which was considerably more than many other concerts held for the Olympic Torch around the UK.

Then on Monday 16th there was an event at Fratton Park for local schools to give the Olympic Torch a big send off as it started its journey out of Portsmouth.
