The millennium has now arrived which Portsmouth marked by holding three large firework displays in secret locations around the city. Gunwharf Quays opened and Portsmouth also got its own television channel "My TV Portsmouth" in the 2001, but this no longer exists.

Portsmouth helped the queen celebrate her Golden Jubilee in style by holding a tri service display on Whale Island and a fly past.

Moving on to 2005 and Portsmouth hosted the magnificent Trafalgar 200 celebrations which included a Son Et Lumiere and International Fleet Review. July of that year saw the Spinnaker Tower completed.

In 2008 Portsmouth hosted the first Meet Your Navy event which took over from the old Navy Days and it also held a victory parade for Portsmouth FC after they won the FA Cup.
